Why is registration mandatory?
According to the Latvian Law "On Ports and Shipping", all watercraft structures exceeding 12 meters must be registered in the LJA Ship Register. Floating Houses for commercial use fall into this category. Registration provides the legal status of the floating house and allows it to be insured. Without registration, a floating house cannot be legally used in a body of water.
Necessary documents for registration
Registration requires: ownership document of the floating house, technical passport with parameters, pontoon manufacturer's certificate, stability calculation from an engineer, civil liability insurance policy, state fee payment document. All documents must be translated into Latvian.
Step-by-step registration process
1) Prepare technical documentation. 2) Submit the LJA to the Ship Register in person or by e-mail. 3) Pay the state fee (50-200 EUR). 4) Get your registration certificate. The process takes 2-6 weeks. We help you throughout the process.
Technical inspection and re-registration
Bathing houses older than 5 years must undergo a repeated technical inspection. Checks the integrity of the pontoons, the electrical system, the fire protection equipment and the anchoring system. We recommend an inspection every 3 years.
